Jimmie Foxx was one of the greatest home run hitters ever to play the game. Nicknamed "The Beast," the echo of the ball striking his bat had a unique sound because Foxx crushed the ball. There was nothing like a Jimmie Foxx home run. His powerful, muscular arms produced a swing that generated such bat speed that balls rocketed from home plate to the deepest reaches of the bleachers in a blink of an eye. This uncracked Hillerich & Bradsby professional model 125, measuring 35 inches and weighing 36 ounces, was used by Foxx during his breakthrough seasons with the Philadelphia A's, 1929 and 1930. The bat has a beautiful, dark brown patina and shows tremendous use throughout. Ball marks and cleat marks cover the left barrel and back barrel of the bat, and the handle shows even wear. For collectors, a Jimmie Foxx game-used bat is one of the rarest of the 500 Home Run Club bats. Pre-powerized (1931) examples are scarce. This bat is a tremendous example of an early Jimmie Foxx game-used bat from the outset of his fabulous Hall of Fame career. The bat comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
