Roger Clemens spent only one year in the minors, 1983, before the Boston Red Sox brought him up for a try at the big leagues in 1984. After a brief stint, he was sent down to the Pawtucket Red Sox, Boston's minor league afffiliate, for some more experience. A year later, he would join the Red Sox full time and go on to have one of finest pitching careers in history. This pre-game jersey was worn by The Rocket during his five-game stay with Pawtucket in late 1984. In the collar is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "XL." The initials "RC" are written on this tag in ink to denote Clemens' initials. Across the front of the shirt are the team name "Pawtucket Red Sox" and the Red Sox logo. On the back is the player number "21." All of this is done in white ironed-on lettering. The jersey shows evidence of nice use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
