Gene Tenace was an underappreciated talent whose magnificent performance in the 1972 World Series displayed to the world his valuable but rarely spotlighted abilities. On the left front tail of this gold flannel vest-style jersey is the "McAuliffe" label and below this is the year tag "71." Next to this is the size tag "44." On the left breast is the team name "A's." The player number "38" appears on both the right breast and on the back of the jersey. The letters and numbers are made of green on white tackle twill. The name on the back has been removed. The jersey shows game use and, with the exception of the removed name, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
