Kerry Wood burst onto the scene with the Cubs in 1998, thrust into the national spotlight when he struck out 20 Houston Astros on May 6 of that season to tie a Major League record. He was named the NL Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Cubs pitcher ever to earn the honor. In the neck of the jersey is a white label reading "34-48-98" to denote the player number, size, and year, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "48." Below this is the "2" Extra Length" label. On the left breast is the red/white/blue Cubs emblem. On the back of the shirt is the name "Wood" and below this is the player number "34." Both the name and number are made of blue on red tackle twill. On the left sleeve is a patch reading "Hey Hey" commemorating the death of Jack Brickhouse and below this is the Cubs patch. On the right sleeve is a "Face" patch commemorating the death of Harry Caray. There is an autograph on the right front which rates a 7. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
