Every now and then, baseball is confronted with a new rising star who has a few seasons with 40 or even 50 home runs, and fans begin to project those numbers to find the likelihood that the phenom will approach Henry Aaron's 755 career home runs. The flaw in such projections, of course, is their assumption of longevity. In actuality, what made Aaron the home run king was not a momentary burst of power, but rather a career of remarkable consistency. Aaron was an All-Star in all 23 seasons he played. He hit between 24 and 45 home runs for 19 consecutive years, and he drove in 100 runs in 13 consecutive seasons. Even besides his hitting, Aaron has four Gold Gloves to his credit. This Aaron Atlanta Braves road knit jersey is from the 1973 season. In the neck of the jersey is the "Sand-Knit" manufacturer's tag with the size "42." Below this is a white tackle twill patch with the year "1973" in blue chain stitch. The script-style team name "Braves" has been sewn across the front of the jersey and the player number "44" has been sewn onto the front and back of the jersey. All the letters and numbers are made of white on red tackle twill. On each sleeve is a red, white, and blue tackle twill "feather" patch. Aaron has signed the jersey in blue ink on one of the front number "4"s with a signature that rates an 8. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The autograph comes with a PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
