A superb big game pitcher, John Smoltz was routinely tabbed to pitch playoff openers ahead of Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux. His development from a skinny prospect to a staff workhorse was a primary factor in the Braves' dominance of the '90s. He is now a premier closer. On the left front tail of this road knit jersey is the "Russell Athletic" label and below this is a label reading "1-02" denoting the set number, size and year, respectively. Next to this is the "1" Extra Body Length' label. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Atlanta" in script-style letters made of red on blue tackle twill. Below this is the Braves "Tomahawk." On the back of the jersey is a gray nameplate with the name "Smoltz" in blue tackle twill. Below this is the player number "29" in red on blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
