Love him or hate him, one thing is for sure: Barry Bonds has put together one of the finest careers in history and is on his way to the Hall of Fame. This jersey dates to just his third professional season, which can be considered a breakout year. On the inside left front tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with the size "42." Adjacent to this is the "Set 1 1988" flag tag. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Pirates" and below is the player number "24," which also appears on the back. On the back is a white nameplate reading "Bonds." All of the letters and numbers are done in black on yellow tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the golden "Pirates" logo patch and on the right are the letters "RSC." These letters were worn in honor of Pittsburgh Mayor Richard Calaguri, who passed away in May of that year. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Included is a hat worn by Bonds during this time. Inside are the "New Era," "Authentic Diamond Collection," and size "7 1/4" tags. His jersey number "24" is written inside in black marker as is the number "29329," which is of unknown significance. The hat shows nice use. A fine pair of items of one of the great players of our time.
