Ozzie Smith was the best defensive shortstop of the 1980s and most likely the best ever. For nineteen years, the "Wizard of Oz" dominated baseball with his breathtaking, and often game-saving, defensive play. On the inside left front tail of this road knit jersey is the "Rawlings" label with the size, "40" and adjacent is a gray label with the letter "T" denoting tapered body. This label is done in blue embroidered stitch. Below this is the "1 Inch" label and below this is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1991." Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Cardinals" in script-style letters made of red on blue embroidered stitch. Going through the letter "C" is a gold embroidered bat with a red embroidered Cardinal perched on each end. On the back of the shirt is a gray nameplate with the name "O. Smith" in red on blue tackle twill. The player number "1" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The numbers are also made of red on blue tackle twill. There is an autograph on the front of the jersey which rates a 7. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA. The bottom of the jersey has been custom-cut and hemmed. The jersey shows game use and, with the exception of the custom-cut and hemmed bottom, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
