This lot offers a variety of turn of the century Spalding baseball equipment ranging from mitts to masks to uniforms, all of which are extraordinary pieces of early baseball history. One of the first major producers of baseball equipment, by 1900 Spalding was turning out virtually everything a baseball player could need and some of it is right here. Included are two early four-finger fielder's gloves and an early catcher's mitt. Also included is a turn of the century "spidermask" catcher's mask and two early baseballs, one apparently for youngsters as it is considerably softer than the other. Finally there is a full early uniform complete with cap, shirt and pants. All items show considerable game use, yet still display nicely.
