Pete Rose stepped up to the batters box on September 11, 1985, with a chance to break Ty Cobb's hit record. Rose eventually took an Eric Show pitch right over the shortstop for a single and the batting record. That was his 4,192 hit and his most memorable one. We were told by our consignor that the hat offered here is the cap that Rose wore during that game. Under the brim is Pete Rose's autograph and the date. The autograph grades a 9. The cap comes with a letter of authenticity dated December 1986 from a dealer who we know was associated with Rose at that time. It also comes with the dealer's catalog advertising the cap, and the catalog has been signed "Pete Rose #4256" in blue Sharpie next to the listing with a signature rating a 9. The autographs come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
