There have been few pitchers more intimidating than Bob Gibson. His great physical stamina and tremendous concentration gave him an enormous edge enhanced by his willingness to pitch inside and sometimes hit batters. This painting commemorating Gibson's incredible pitching career and features him where he will always be remembered: on the mound, in his St. Louis Cardinals uniform, winding up for a pitch. The painting, done in a combination of acrylic and airbrush, was done on a stretched canvas measuring 24" x 36" x 1.5" with no unsightly staples, allowing it to be beautifully displayed with or without framing. Inset above is a three-part sequence in acrylic wash of Gibson in action: stretching back his arms, winding up for the pitch, and preparing to let it fly. In the lower right corner is a closeup of Gibson, airbrushed for likeness and clarity. The red wall in the background is marked "Miller" to honor Miller Lite's support of this project. The painting is signed in the lower right corner by "D. Arrigo," the artist, in black marker. It has also been signed by Gibson in black marker, with his signature rating a 9. Gibson's autograph comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Proceeds from this item go to the Baseball Assistance Team.
