Brooks Robinson was one of the most outstanding third basemen of all time. An All-Star in 1960-75, MVP in 1964, Golden Glove Award recipient in 1960-75, and inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983, he ensured that he will be remembered as one of the baseball greats for many years to come. This painting shows Robinson dressed in his Orioles uniform, poised and ready to catch the next ball sent his way. The painting, done in a combination of acrylic and airbrush, was done on a stretched canvas measuring 24" x 36" x 1.5", with no unsightly staples, allowing it to be beautifully displayed with or without framing. Inset above is a three-part sequence in acrylic wash of Robinson in action: diving for a catch, making the catch, and holding his glove in the air. In the lower right is a close up, his face airbrushed for accuracy and likeness. The green wall in the background is marked "Miller" to honor Miller Lite's support of this project. The painting is signed by "D. Arrigo," the artist, in black marker. Proceeds from this item go to the Baseball Assistance Team.
