This check was drafted by United States President Ulysses S. Grant while in office. It was made out to the first lady, and has been signed twice by President Grant, as he had addressed it to "Mrs. U. S. Grant." The check was written in black ink, which has turned slightly brown with age. This First National Bank of Washington D.C. check, numbered "27," was printed by "Corlies, Macy & Co., Stationers, 33 Nassau St. N.Y." and is dated January 13th, 1870. The back of the check is labeled with the account number: "7.907.48" and has been stamped "FIRST NATIONAL BANK WASHINGTON, D.C. JAN 13 1870," in light blue. The autographs rate an 8 and come with a PSA/DNA letter.
