With the assassination of President McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, not quite 43, became the youngest President in the nation's history. Roosevelt was notorious as a "trustbuster" and coined the phrase, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." Roosevelt issued this historical document on May 5, 1908, to "Charles Frederick Goffin," appointing him "Senior Engineer." The document is printed on vellum, and is signed by both Theodore Roosevelt and the Secretary of the Treasury in black ink. Matted and framed in an elaborate stained and engraved wooden frame, the final dimensions of this piece are 29.5" x 26". Roosevelt's signature rates a 7 and comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. The document measures 16" x 16" and includes a 5" x 7" photograph of the President and a 6" x 3" gold-toned plaque which reads, "Theodore Roosevelt 1858-1919 Twenty-sixth President."
