This red, yellow, and black tin advertising sign for Franklin Old Fashioned Lager Beer appears to have been displayed in a sports bar, as it is modeled after a baseball scoreboard. The sign is in very good condition, with slight wear around the corners and some bending on one end as well as a few holes drilled so that it might be hung. Franklin was a sponsor of the AAA minor league Columbus Jets baseball team. The company went out of business in the late 1920s as the laws of prohibition took hold. The words "FRANKLIN" and "LAGER BEER," as well as the pictures of beer "in steine bottles" and "on drought" are raised and shiny. On the back of the sign, in the lower left, is written, "The Donaldson Art Sign Co., Covington, KY." The sign measures 27.5" x 13.5".
