World War II took the lives of millions and changed the course of world history forever. This lot consists of a Japanese flag captured by American troops during World War II. The flag was taken on Aug 4, 1944 when U.S. troops captured Marshall Is. (Kwajalein). The fabric flag measures 28" x 37.5" and is white with a large centered red circle. The white background is yellowed from age and warfare and is covered in Japanese writing in black marker. The flag is in good condition with what appears to be small bullet holes and two small areas of glue residue. The flag is pressed between two sheets of plexiglass for protection along with an American flag patch, a map of the area, a table of losses, and some other clippings. Included on the back is a 20" x 27" map by National Geographic, chronicling the war. This is an incredible artifact, usually found only in museums.
