This stunning original 1937 sepia Paramount Pictures Studio photograph of Carole Lombard is boldly signed in dark black fountain pen, "To Mr. L.C. Shockley, Sincerely, Carole Lombard." The photo is accompanied by a signed letter to Shockley, who was an executive at the McCrory store chain in New York, dated December 7, 1937 on Paramount Pictures letterhead, in which Carole announces her new motion picture, "True Confession," the first motion picture ever named after a magazine. Lombard, a beautiful, charming comedienne star with sex appeal, began her screen career at the age of seventeen following a Hollywood screen test. Among her earliest endeavors were several two-reel comedies working for Mack Sennett, and she later appeared in such classic comedies as "My Man Godfrey" in 1936 with ex-husband William Powell. The 8" x 10" photo is labeled "P1202-1481" in white in the lower right corner. Lombard's signatures rate strong 9s and come with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
