The 1924 film, "Black Oxfords," is based on Sennett's favorite melodramatic situation: the mortgage is due and the family is penniless, with the evil landlord about to foreclose. Jack, the heroic son, frees himself from jail and enters his horse in a steeplechase to try to earn the money needed to save their house. Despite the meddling of the landlord, Jack and his horse manage to win the race, the mortgage is paid, and the movie ends with Jack's sweetheart telling him he can "foreclose" on her heart. This three-sheet stone lithograph for "Black Oxfords" measures 42" x 81" and has been linen-backed. It features a full color illustration of Jack in a multi-colored shirt, racing his horse. The poster reads "Pathécomedy" and in large print says "MACK SENNETT presents BLACK OXFORDS." It is in VF condition.
