Following the most successful college basketball career in NCAA history, Pete Maravich made the jump to the NBA where he played for ten years. As his career was winding down, the Celtics picked him up during the 1979-80 season. Maravich played in 26 games that season scoring 299 points. There was, of course, no way the Celts equipment manager could have known about the mid-season addition of Maravich and so when he showed up a warm-up jacket was borrowed from another player and his number "44" was written in next to the blacked out number (either a "7" or a "9") on the "Sand-Knit" manufacturer's labels, which have the size "40" in the collar and inside the right front tail. Across the front of the jacket is the team name "Celtics" and on each sleeve is the shamrock logo. All of this is done in green on yellow tackle twill. On the back is a green nameplate reading "Maravich" in white on green tackle twill. It is affixed by velcro which was used on Celtics warm-ups of the era to facilitate name changes as necessary. The jacket shows nice wear.
