"Wilt the Stilt" Chamberlain was born August 21, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. Since Wilt was in high school at Overbrook High School in Pennsylvania, he was an absolute dominant force on the hardwood. In 1955 he was an All-American, in one game he scored 90 points with an unthinkable 60 of those 90 coming in a ten minute span. In two years at the University of Kansas, he averaged 29.9 points per game, and 18.3 rebounds per game. After college, Wilt played for the popular Harlem Globetrotters in the 1958-59 season. In 59 he decided to play for the NBA, and he was picked up by the Philadelphia Warriors. Chamberlain also played for the San Francisco Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. On all four teams Wilt did nothing but dominate. He was the 1960 Rookie of the Year, a four-time NBA MVP, two-time NBA finals MVP, and led the NBA in scoring for seven straight years. His statistics and records could fill up this auction book. Perhaps the most memorable of his achievements came on March 2, 1962 in Hershey, PA against the New York Knicks. Wilt took the game into his own hands, and scored what seems to be impossible 100 points in that single game. Across the front of the jersey is "LAKERS" done in yellow on white tackle twill. Below that and on the back is the player number "13" done in white on yellow tackle twill. Across the back of the jersey above the player number is "CHAMBERLAIN" done in yellow on white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
