Before there was a "Dream Team," there was the 1976 Celtics. Perhaps the most exciting game in history was Game Five of the 1976 NBA Finals, where the Celtics beat the Suns in a triple-overtime marathon. By the time of next Celtics dynasty, led by Larry Bird, not one member of the "old" 1976 team remained. Further, by then basketball itself has changed, becoming a worldwide sports phenomenon with the advent of huge television contracts, cable TV and glitzy halftime shows. This size 9 ½ 14K Balfour 1976 Celtics Championship ring was presented to Charlie Scott, who was third on the team in points scored (1443) behind Cowens and White. A round diamond is set in a carved basketball, surrounded by the raised words "NBA World Champions." On the left shank is a raised NBA logo set amid the year "1976." Below this is a chevron that reads "Teamwork." On the top right shank on a raised banner is "Scott." Below this is a raised NBA Championship trophy, with 13 engraved years on the base for each Celtics Championship and "National Basketball Association, World Professional Championship" engraved on the bowl. At the bottom is a raised chevron that reads "Pride." The ring is in at least EXMT condition with the customary light wear.
