Roger Staubach was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 10th round of the 1964 NFL draft. Although drafted in 64, he could not play until 69 because of his commitment to the navy. He was the quarterback for the Cowboys from 1969-1979. In his ten year career, he threw for 22,700 yards and 153 touchdowns. Roger was elected to the Pro Bowl six out of his ten seasons in the league. Because of his intensity to win, along with his poise he received the nickname "Captain Comeback." During his career, he led the Cowboys to 23 come from behind wins in the fourth quarter. In Super Bowl VI, Staubach was named MVP leading his Cowboys to a 24-3 victory over Miami. Also included in his Super Bowl rings is Super Bowl XII. Roger had a tremendous will to win; never giving up, he was one of the greatest competitors the NFL has ever seen. On the front, back, and both shoulders of the jersey is the player number "12." Although the shirt does not have customary Rope Stitching on the interior, this jersey was probably sewn by a local embroiderer. Across the back of the jersey is "STAUBACH" done on a white nameplate. All lettering and numbering is done in blue tackle twill. Inside the back of the collar is the "Southland" manufacturer's tag with wash instructions. Attached is a size tag reading "46." The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
