Pat Tillman became one of America's heroes when he left a $3.6 million contract offer from the Arizona Cardinals to join the U.S. Marines and fight in Afghanistan. Tillman did not want to be viewed differently from any other American patriot who fought in the past, or who will fight in the future. Unfortunately, Tillman was killed in a firefight in southeast Afghanistan at only 27 years of age. This lot is a replica Arizona Cardinals jersey that has been signed by this great hero. Tillman signed his name and number on the top of the white tackle-twill "4" in black Sharpie. His signature rates a 9. Also included in this lot are two newspaper articles from the April 24, 2004 issue of the East Valley Tribune, and a copy of the May 3, 2004 issue of Sports Illustrated, which features Tillman as its cover story. The signature comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
