When a young Cassius Clay took Olympic Gold in Rome in 1960, few realized the impact he'd have on the boxing world. The brash fighter began his illustrious career in 1964 as a heavy underdog to the Heavyweight Champion Sonny Liston. Clay knocked out the champ in the 7th round to begin his long reign. Ali continued defeating everyone in his path and proclaimed, "I'm the greatest!" Only the Army could strip Ali of his crown when he protested the draft in 1967. When Ali was able to resume his boxing career, he gave us the "Thrilla in Manila" and the "Rumble in the Jungle." This white terry cloth robe was used by Ali during training and for personal appearances. It has a hood and sash, also made of white terry cloth. "Muhammad Ali, World Champion" is embroidered in black script lettering on the back. The robe was originally obtained from Drew Bundindi circa 1983. It comes with a letter of authenticity.
