Winning a silver medal in the 1956 Olympics, International Boxing Hall of Famer Jose Torres turned pro in 1958 and finally won the Light Heavyweight crown from Willie Pastrano in 1965. He wore the belt for a year and after several successful defenses lost it to Dick Tiger in 1966. He went on to become New York State Athletic Commissioner from 1984-1988 and President of the WBO from 1990-1995. This vintage maroon sweatshirt was worn by Torres as he trained, and it shows evidence of wear and many washings. "Everlast est. 1910" is printed on the front and the collar tag has been removed. Torres has signed it on the left chest, "DANNY: God Bless You! Jose Torres, Aug. 13, 2001." The letters "Jul" have been written in and crossed out as Torres corrected his inscription. It comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
