Arm surgery in 1973 nearly ended Bruce Sutter's career, but with the help of Cubs pitching coach Mike Roarke, he developed a split-finger fastball. In the neck of this home knit jersey is the "Wilson" label with the size "42." In the neck of the shirt is the "Wilson" label with the size "42." On the left front tail is the "Wilson" exclusive label and below is the size tag "42." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Braves" in script-style letters made of red on blue tackle twill. Below this is the Braves "Tomahawk." On the back of the shirt is a white nameplate with the name "Sutter" in blue tackle twill and below this is the player number "40" in red on blue tackle twill. The "Indian Head" patch is missing from the left sleeve. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the missing patch, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
