A very unique bronze statue of Lou Gehrig. It depicts The Iron Horse in his lefty batting stance, having taken a full swing so the bat is over his right shoulder. He is portrayed his NY Yankee pinstripe uniform and cap, all bronzed. It is highlighted by the "NY" on his left chest and "4" on his back both being painted blue and his belt being painted black. The attention to detail is outstanding. The inscriptions on the sides under his feet read "The Pride of the Yankees" on one side and "Henry Louis Gehrig" on the other. The base of the statue is three horizontal slabs of brown marble, measuring 1/2" x 11" each. In between two of the layers is a 1" x 11" slab of white marble with a blue vertical line spaced out every 7/8" of an inch, resembling the NY Yankee Pinstripe uniform and outer Face of the Stadium. It is in overall mint condition showing some discoloration of the white marble and some dirt spots on the bronze.
