Circa 1934 die-cut cardboard store display advertising for Grape Nuts cereal designed around the pitching form of HOF Cardinals pitcher and folk hero of the 1930s, Dizzy Dean. Has an attached cardboard holder for promotional certificates that could be filled out by kids to obtain prizes. Lettered above Dean's image are the words "Boys! Girls! Get My Valuable Prizes Free!-Dizzy Dean", while printed below is the company's slogan "For Energy...Eat Grape-Nuts!" Matted and framed to 27" x 39", this display originates from a find of approximately twenty-five examples that were discovered in a farmhouse in the Midwest approximately ten years ago, most of which were used as insulation and therefore in poor condition. The offered example is one of the highest grade from the find, exhibiting light overall wear and appearing to grade EXMT or better. Prior to that find, this piece was unknown in the collecting world.
