In 1961, the right fielder for the NY Yankees did something that no other player had done in baseball for over three decades. Roger Maris not only challenged Babe Ruth's home run record of 60 in a single season but on October 1, 1961 hit his 61st home run to announce himself as the new single season home run champion. Maris won his second consecutive MVP award in '61 and led the NY Yankees to another World Series championship. This "Cronin" OAL baseball has been signed by Maris on the sweet spot in blue ink rating a strong 9. The ball is evenly toned with slight yellowing but in overall excellent condition. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
