George Herman "Babe" Ruth was an American icon, baseball's first great slugger and easily the most celebrated athlete of his time."The Sultan of Swat" led the New York Yankees to seven American League pennants and four World Series titles during his brilliant career including one in 1927 as a part of the infamous "Murders Row". He finished with 714 career home runs, leading the league 12 times including 60 in 1927, a record that would stand until 1961. This is a natural bat painted silver and is a D & M Sporting Goods Bat. The trademark states "MADE IN U.S.A. NO 12" and pictures the D & M logo trademark. It measures 31" x 7" around at the barrel end. The inscription reads "To Joseph James Bihler Best Wishes From Babe Ruth Jan 22 - 1931". It is signed in black fountain pen at the barrel end of the bat and would rate an 8-9 except for a smudge on the "B" in Babe. The black ink is an outstanding contrast to the silver coloration of the bat The bat itself is in very good condition showing discoloration only on each end of the bat. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
