Circa 1970s red catcher's batting helmet, game-used by HOFer Johnny Bench. On the front of the helmet is the Cincinnati "C" logo done in white vinyl. On the brim of the helmet is the player number "5" done in white vinyl. On the underside of the brim is "American Baseball Cap, Media, Penna., U.S. Patent No. 2,698,434" and "L" for "large." On the inside of the helmet is the manufacturer's warning sticker and size 7-1/8 sticker. No ear flaps, helmet shows great game use with staining on the interior padding, several nicks and abrasions on the dome. Signed in silver marker on the dome by Johnny Bench, signature grades a 6 to 7. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA from SCD signed by Troy Kinunen and Dave Bushing, final grade: AUTHENTIC.
