A college basketball standout, Ralph Sampson was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1983 NBA draft, was a four-time NBA All-Star and won the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1984. Sampson was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. On the front left tail is a “Sand-Knit” distributor’s tag that reads, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the HOUSTON ROCKETS”. Below is a “Sand-Knit” size “42” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent is a strip tag with, “3” LB” embroidered on it and above is a blank strip tag. On the right inseam is a materials tag with washing instructions. On the left chest is the official “NBA” logo embroidered. Across the chest reads, “Houston”, the player number “50” appears on both the front and on the back and across the back reads the player name, “SAMPSON”. On the front number the "5" is an actuality of an upside down inverted number "2". This unique feature can be seen in multiple photos throughout the season. All numbering and lettering is done in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the red mesh jersey. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use.
