It was October 8, 1956, and Yankee Stadium was holding the fifth game of the World Series. Pitching for the Yanks was Don Larsen. 64,000 people watched as not one Brooklyn Dodger ever made it on base. After his perfect game, Don Larsen was quoted as saying, "Everybody is entitled to a good day." This signed photograph of Larsen shows him letting go of the final pitch as second baseman Billy Martin watches from behind. The scoreboard in the background shows 0's all the way down the line for Brooklyn. This lot also comes with a ticket stub from the event, in excellent condition. This lot was initially the property of ex-Yankee pitcher, and Larsen teammate Bill Stafford, and is consigned with a letter from the family. The autograph rates a strong 8, and comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
